SANTA ANITA HOLLYWOOD MEET
FRIDAY, APRIL 19
R1 Vodka Vodka (#1) broke well and was checked slightly a few strides away, dropped back and raced at the rail early, was always racing in traffic. Never looked comfortable. Better-than-looked effort here. Colt on the improve and deserves to be followed next time.
R4 Bessie Coleman (#2) dwelt at the start, raced far back early on, was allowed to settle and found stride in lane to finish strongly for a huge second place effort. Miyadi filly figures to improve with a race under her belt.
R6 Nauvoo (#7) gelding was scratched from here coming off two dismal tries. Question of condition. Use caution when next seen.
SATURDAY, APRIL 20
R2 Yellow Sun Dress (#2) bred to like the lawn and took to it with a game maiden win in second start. Invader from Keeneland looks to have a home here and should be followed for the Mark Glatt stable.
R8 Medoro (#3) didn't have the best of trips here but Honor Code filly showed her class and determination in a gutty win. Quality filly worth following as she remains undefeated in four career starts.
SUNDAY, APRIL 21
R1 Jane Austen (#2) nice looking maiden debut win here. Daughter of Tapit looks to have some talent and we'll follow this mark Glatt trainee. Strikingly (#5) received lots of early action and was bet as low as 5-1 from a 15-1 morning line. Drifted up at post-time and mare turned in a dull effort.
FRIDAY, APRIL 26
R4 Nanci Griffith (#1) again was a step slow away from the gate, filly offered some improvement and finished okay. Daughter of Tough Sunday appears to be coming around now.
R5 Adebayo (#3) decent try in return. Gelding probably needed return and will go better next time with race under belt.
R7 Leisurewear (#5) stumbled and went to nose at break, jock losing irons, far back early. Draw line through this race.
SATURDAY, APRIL 27
R2 Smokem If U Gottem (#6) sharp second in maiden debut. Effort for was a winning race for most but ran into buzz-saw. Follow colt by Smokem.
R10 It's My House (#5) hopped up at start to be well off behind field. Eliminated. Draw line through this race.
R11 Willa T (#1) rough trip for filly. Caught in tight through stretch and was bumped and steadied. Better-than-looked effort. Follow.
SUNDAY, APRIL 28
R4 Zzyzx (#3) stumbled badly at the break to lose all chance. Filly was at the $10k level here on the double drop and should be given another chance at this level next time.
R8 Irish Wahine (#5) sharp looking winner. Mare is in sharp form and should be followed.
