SANTA ANITA CLASSIC MEET
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 26
R1 Bigmofromfresno (#5) controlled pace and won gamely under RispoliDan Blacker trained gelding could be heard from again during the Santa Anita Classic meet.
R3 Easter (#2) just keeps on winning races. Closer to pace today and ran down rivals to win going away. Remains ultra sharp. Follow.
R4 Sneaking Candy (#7) useful debut here. Finished well, strong gallop out. Should be okay next time with a race under his belt.
R10 Howl (#3) miserable try in West Coast debut. Perhaps didn't handle track? If Brad Cox trained filly stays in SoCal use caution when next seen.
R11 Visually (#5) controlled pace for wire-to-wire win for clients at $23. Give glance back when next seen for Barocio connections.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 29
R3 Double Jab (#1) never looked comfortable racing from the inside and began to lose contact. Eased at the wire. Draw line through this try.
R5 Zona Verde (#6) not ready for break. Awkward start to break slowly and lose position early, raced behind horses late in stretch without a clear path. Toss this effort.
R8 Kinza (#6) nice solid looking debut win. Won with plenty left in the tank, strong on gallop out. Follow Baffert trainee.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 30
R2 Mongolian Gold (#5) broke very slowly to race well back early on, found best stride late and finished strongly. Will improve next time with a race under his belt. Follow.
R6 Quincy Market (#5) dumped rider in post parade going to the gate, captured and then reared and dropped rider again while loading. Antics behind the gate cost him. Toss this race out.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 31
R4 Professors' Pride (#2) left while breaking slowly, never really got involved in a race that can be thrown out.
R5 Applies for all horses entered here. Long delay of about 10-minutes + as #2 Gypsy Lynn got to the gate with her rivals and had to be returned to the paddock to have her weight checked. Rest of field was dismounted and walked behind the gate. Gypsy Lynn had to trot back to the paddock and then trot back to the gate. No telling how this long delay effected the horses. Toss this race.
R8 Ghost of Midnight (#5) huge win by this gelding. Wide into clubhouse turn, was wide every-step of the way while earning the win. Gutty. Sharp and deserves to be followed.
MONDAY, JANUARY 1
R2 Clubhouse Bride (#4) Eric Kruljac has a nice filly here. May be a cut below the best, but daughter of Clubhouse Ride is two-for-two now and is talented. Follow her.
R8 Sweet Azteca (#3) looked to be on way to a win in the Las Flores but blew the turn and had to settle for third. Look for blinkers toi be added in her next start? Deserves another chance next time.
R9 She's Scintillating (#4) looked to need her local debut race. Been waiting for this filly but didn't raise a gallop. Give another chance next time with race under her belt.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 5
R6 She's a Tempest (#1) filly on the improve for Steve Knapp. Impressive maiden win. Follow in first start vs. winners.
R8 Top Gun Tommy (#2) razor sharp in third win in a row. Popular in claim box, son of Mineshaft has never been better. Follow.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 6
R2 Toledo Rocket (#4) reared-up at the break to be left. Eliminated at the start. Throw this race out.
R4 Chasing Kat (#5) step slow away at the start, filly had enough natural speed to vie for the lead early. Tired some while keeping to task in a much better-than-looked debut effort. Follow.
R8 Muth (#3) Baffert trainee continues to move forward off another solid win in San Vicente. On the road to the derby?
SUNDAY, JANUARY 7
R2 Queens Command (#6) mare broke okay, allowed to settle and made nice late run to win in stylish fashion. Follow.
R4 Santo Dios (#2) rank and pulled early, settled down some but tired through the stretch. Needs to relax and settle early.
R6 Two by Four (#7) debuted for Lewis. Broke okay, was allowed to settle, began run on turn, weaved his way through traffic, found room late at rail and finished full of run in a nice debut. Nice gallop out. Follow.
R7 Mega Moon (#3) gelding was blocked through lane. Tried to sneak thru at rail but was shut off. Blocked and was taken hold of late with no room to run. Was loaded. Tab next time.
R8 Tambo (#2) match race with Kopion didn't develop as filly stumbled badly at the start. Lost all chance. Ignore this effort.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 12
R2 Torleif (#5) returned fresh here for the Headley barn and may have needed this race. Made a mild move midway on the turn and flattened out some in the lane. Figures to move forward off this comeback.
R3 Bronko Nagurski (#6) finally got the job done here in seventh maiden try. Tossed head at break to be away slowly, gelding really put it together to get picture taken. Looks to be on the improve now.
Saturday, January 13
R5 Sushi Sticks (#5) broke okay and was allowed to settle early, raced well back, handled patiently by Prat, began rally top of stretch while wide and finished full of run late. Strong on gallop out. Filly may appreciate added real estate. Grand Slam Smile (#9) filly was hot-headed in paddock when she dumped Alvarado, settled down when she hit the track and turned in a huge effort in win. Follow.
R8 The Chosen Vron (#2) winner for 15 races from 20 career starts, gelded son of Vronsky is an absolute monster. This was a paid workout. Follow.
Sunday, January 14
R1 Shamrockin (#5) broke well but allowed to settle early, raced well back early-on, began rally approaching turn, was taken outside and closed well with a rush to get the money. 12/1 morning line, filly was allowed to drift up in the wagering and off this effort may deserve to be followed for the Aguirre stable.
R3 Collectively (#2) filly was eased on backstretch in local debut. Muteki (#3) returned off layoff since 2022, eased in stretch in a dismal return try under Hernandez.
R5 Girlcanthelpit (#1) broke a step slow from rail, settled while racing well back early, found stride on turn racing inside and saved ground while rallying at the rail. Filly galloped out well and should move up with a race now under her belt.
R8 Midnight Love (#6) stumbled a bit but recovered quickly to get the lead and control pace. Plenty left. Nice looking winner. Follow.
R9 Numero Dix (#2) broke okay, taken hold of and allowed to settle, raced behind horses briefly in stretch, found room midway thru stretch and exploded at the rail to win photo for second. Nice try here.
MONDAY, JANUARY 15
R4 Eleven Out of Ten (#6) away slowly, raced back of pack, made longated move to rally for third in a better-than-looked effort. Follow.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 19
R7 See Through It (#4) now seven-year-old gelding has never been better. Solid win and looked good on the gallop out and coming back. Could take another. Follow.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 20
R1 Maymun (#2) Baffert unleashed a solid maiden debut win. Won under a hold with plenty left in the tank. Follow this son of Frosted.
R2 The Bullion Bomber (#4) pushed front of his stall open before break. Backed out and re-loaded. Broke sharp and set the pace but fell apart late. Be careful in geldings next start he didn't look good late.
R5 Bigredsandribeyes (#5) broke awkwardly in return try, raced well back but looked good with a nice late finish. Perhaps Doug O'Neill trainee needed a race. Follow.
R9 Caribbean King (#4) rank early on, hard to ride, settled some down backside and finished okay. Gelding had blinkers taken off here and may need them re-added.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 21
R1 Crypto Craze (#5) nice looking maiden debut winner here for Luis Mendez. Speed and drew off to win easily. Goes to new connections next start. Follow vs. winners.
R2 Just Is (#1) broke thru gate prior to start, dumped rider and ran off. Scratched. Never shown this behavior at the gate before.
R4 Vegas Burner (#1) bobbled at the break to be far back early on, allowed to settle and made longated move starting on turn to just miss. Much best here and should have had picture taken. Follow.
R6 Linda's Gift (#6) looked like mare was going to settle but made her way to the lead while rank and tossing head. Settled down, cleared and won gamely. Mare is ultra sharp now and deserves to be followed.
R7 Show Card (#6) broke slowly and never got involved. Toss this race.
R8 Khinjani (#2) broke early, raced well back and made a move on turn to reach contention, found room inside and exploded late for a nice looking win in North America debut for Glatt. Filly has talent and should be followed.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 26
R1 Where Is Zizi (#5) broke very slow to race well back early, got rank and pulled and finished just okay late for 4th place. Toss race and give another look next time.
R4 More Try (#2) bolted leaving clubhouse turn and was pulled up. Be Punctual (#6) lugged out through the lane and was eased.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 27
R1 Adebayo (#6) useful debut here. Cold on board (3/1 morning line off at 9/1), gelding looked like he needed this. Mild move on turn to flatten out. Follow.
R2 Magazine (#1) game win here and won nicely with much left in the tank. Strong gallop out, filly came back looking sharp. Claimed by Leonard Powell, follow her up the ladder.
R5 Curlin's Kaos (#6) sharp maiden win and gelding is on the improve. Looked solid late while kicking in with a nice finish. Follow vs. winners.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 28
R1 Cameron Slough (#3) Neil Drysdale trainee improved on class drop to just miss in second career start. Looks to have found proper level and will be tough next time.
R2 Billy Joe Shiver (#4) colt looked out of sorts and went to gate washy under Hernandez. Solid runner-up try. Check him out next time going to gate.
R4 Well Funded (#5) okay try in maiden debut and finished okay. Looks like she'll appreciate two-turns so beware on stretch-out. Follow.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 2
R4 Takamakahara (#1) broke okay, outrun early on and not in contention, made a nice move on turn and closed nicely through the lane to finish a sharp looking third. Strong gallop out, give son of Goldencents a look next time.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3
R5 Nysos (#6) super impressive son of Nyquist keeps unbeaten streak alive. Powerful, easy win. Appears on way to Santa Anita Derby?
R8 Goliad (#6) quirky son of War Front allowed to open up and cruise early on the lead. Nice looking finish for a horse that has been stopping. Kimura seems to have a way with him. Follow.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10
R4 Can't Sleep (#8) barn not know for having firsters ctanked up but this filly looked sharp in maiden debut win. Follow.
R8 Missed the Cut (#1) son of Quality Road can run all day long and is in razor sharp form, Can win right back.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 11
R6 Maymun (#2) son of Frosted has a bright future ahead of him for the Bob Baffert stable. Handles stretch-out just fine. Follow.
R7 Zona Verde (#4) second troubled trip in a row now. Filly needs clear sailing. Give one more shot next time.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15
R9 Mega Moon (#7) unlucky in his last start with traffic problems in the lane, rider switch to Prat today as jock put him on the lead with soft fractions and wired his rivals. Sharp now and should be looked at next time.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16
R1 Billbernjoejohnick (#1) rough trip. Rank and pulled down backside, bumped around through stretch while lacking room. Draw line through this and give look when he surfaces next. Forty Niner Gold (#5) will benefit from this debut run. Battled gamely through stretch. Follow.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17
R1 Goldeneye (#5) trapped inside thru stretch, tried to go inside rival but hesitant. Had room latebut was outrun to wire. Better-than-looked try here and should be followed.
R3 Shady Tiger (#8) sharp win first time vs. winners. Smiling Tiger gelding appears to have touch of talent.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 18
R2 Nay V Belle (#5) nice looking maiden debut win this afternoon. Drew off late and looked like a filly that will appreciate more distance. Follow.
R5 Nauvoo (#8) lower level claimer is razor sharp and won again with plenty left in the tank. Claimed by Cesar Dealba stable and can continue his win streak when next seen.
R9 Nitti (#2) broke awkwardly and slowly in North American debut, outrun early but made a move on turn and finished okay late in a race he likely needed for the Leonard Powell stable. With a race now under his belt, look for an improved run next time.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23
R4 Blackpink (#6) looked to need race for the Phil D'Amato barn. Should go much better next time now that she has a race under her belt.
R8 Irish Wahine (#3) been knocking on the door and finally got the job done for the Gary Stute barn. Could be tough right back.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24
R1 Bandwagon (#5) horrible trip checking and steadying throughout. Never had much of a clear trip. Toss this race and follow next time.
R3 Quantum Energy (#4) hesitated at break to get away slowly, raced well back early, made up some ground on back-side, found room inside and finished okay in a better-than-looked effort. Nice gallop out. Follow this one next time.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25
R2 Motorcade (#5) game win under Kimura for Sadler stable. Opened up and gamely repelled the runner-up to post sharp win. Can fire right back off this. Follow.
R4 Indy's Star (#5) Runner-up to Crimson Rose and 'Star ran a winning race in defeat while no match for the winner. Tab in next start under similar circumstances.
R5 No Time for Sualls (#6) cold on the tote in debut, broke awkwardly under Baze, outrun early on, cut the corner in lane and made up some ground late. Follow next time with a race now under belt.
R8 Battle Cruiser (#2) broke awkwardly, raced well behind early on, angled out in lane but came up empty. Slow start cost him and this race should be tossed out.
R9 Gracelund Grey (#2) raced inside early behind rivals, tried to sneak through at rail into stretch, checked and steadied, came out and finished strongly for the place. Better-than-looked effort here. Follow.
R10 Takes Three (#7) how game was this win under Ayuso? Sent to lead and gamely held off rivals in stretch. Could come right back next time. Very strong gallop out. Follow.
FRIDAY, MARCH 1
R3 Gregorian Chant (#6) now 8-year-old gelding came into this race off a troubled trip in previous and bombed here big-time. Gelding getting mileage on him now and looked to have lost a step here. Use caution next time he surfaces.
R6 Princess of Time (#3) second off the layoff proved fruitful for this Mike McCarthy trainee. Looks to have plenty of ability and can win right back.
SUNDAY, MARCH 3
R1 Petit Filet (#6) filly looked out of sorts in paddock and washed out going to gate. Always felt she has some talent but hasn't found proper level yet. Draw a line through this race.
R6 Scatify (#1) horrible trip here. Caught in tight on first turn, rider lost iron and was done after that. Draw a line through this effort.
R8 Subsanador (#6) heart-breaking loss for thjis John Sadler trainee. Ran huge off a debut he needed, the son of Fortify is loaded with talent and should be followed.
MONDAY, MARCH 4
R2 Dream Princess (#3) returned off a lengthly layoff today barn and was taking a massive class dip. Put on the lead under Hernandez, mare was up to the task in wire-to-wire win. Claimned here by Knapp, will be interesting to see her next start.
R5 Certitude (#5) ran a winning race in runner-up try here. Got out too late, closed with a rush in nice effort. Short price next time vs. similar bunch.
R9 Potential Spam (#6) walked out of gate under Fresu, raced well back early, had pace to run at, reached contention on turn, angled out and lugged in through lane for a dull effort. Expected much better today from this son of Palace Malice. May be a money burner.
FRIDAY, MARCH 8
R1 Takamakahara (#3) much improved speed today while racing between horses. Battled and tired through lane in first try on dirt. Goldensents gelding has some talent and bears watching next time. Could be a huge number.
R4 Hero Status (#2) stumbled, went to nose at break to lose all chance here. Toss this race and wait for next time.
R5 National Generaux (#1) gelding gone bad since the claim. Use caution when next seen.
R8 Speedy Grazy (#8) better-than-looked effort here. Wide into first turn, got inside, raced in contention down back-side, swung out wide into stretch and gamely kept to task while losing the photo for second.
SATURDAY, MARCH 9
R1 Give Me the Lute (#4) broke bit slowly, stayed inside, rallied between horses through stretch for a game effort. Remains sharp.
R3 Vada (#7) outrun early while racing far back, started rally on turn and found best stride late for a eye catching 4th place finish. Strong on gallop out.
R6 Where's My Ring (#7) very wide first turn, stayed wide throughout, kept to task and grinded out a solid second place try while no match for winner.
SUNDAY, MARCH 10
R3 King of Gosford (#2) Sharp looking North American debut winner for Philip D'Amato stable. Looks to have talent and should be followed.
